Useful hints

Tips en truuks Leather is a truly natural product, a living material that breathes and is flexible.

The visible pores, scars, insect bites and light intensity and color differences in the skin characterize the authenticity of your garment.

These are no material errors and can not be classified as complaints. Nature has left his signature. Our manufacturers also try to cut out these scars as much as possible.

Important for wearing the garment is to impregnate it with a stain and water repellent spray, for better protection against dirt and water. Also follow the instructions carefully. These sprays are available in our stores in de Bijenkorf.

Washed leather quality (resulting in washed leather with a soft touch) does not need to be impregnated with such a spray.

To enjoy your purchase for a very long time, it is very important to have good maintenance. We would like to give the following tips:

  • Never keep leather clothing in a plastic bag.
  • Always put the item on a hanger so the item doesn't loose shape.
  • Remember, a leather garment is not waterproof and will discolor in the sun.
  • If the item is still wet, dry the item at room temperature, not in the sun and not near a stove or heater.
  • Remove dried up raindrops and light stains with a soft brush or fine leather sponge with dry foam soap or leather handle. These spots often also disappear when rubbing the garment together.
  • After wetting and removing the dried up raindrops the garment needs to be impregnated again.
  • Suede garments may loose abrasive particles over time. They can also be removed with a suede brush or adhesive tape. This way loose particles remain stuck to the tape.
  • Remove fatty edges and light stains gently with a suede stone barn (veloursgum or Woly).
  • When you have stains on your suede item, you can also use fat-free chalk. Grate the chalk and put it on the stain (so much that the stain is completely covered with chalk). Fold the jacket / skirt tight and let it rest for 1 or 2 days. After this, rub the stain with a clean piece of the jacket / skirt.
  • White clothing is very contagious, but also easy to clean. The jacket can be treated with baby shampoo on a damp white cloth. Put the cloth onto the stain and rub until the stain has disappeared.
  • Every now and then rub the coat with wax or clear shoe polish. It will keep your coat nice, smooth and it will help to prevent stains.

    Other comments:

  • A feature of Cow brushed quality is to show wear, the 'old look'. Restoration of this quality is not possible.
  • Nappa leather (smooth leather) doesn't need as much maintenance as suede because it is not as contagious. However, impregnate your nappa leather item with a spray to keep it in good shape.

    Benefits of Leather and Suede:

  • It gives a cool feeling.
  • It is breathable.
  • It has a luxurious look.
  • It shapes by wearing (and provides flexibility to the body).
