Product Care

Arma productverzorging Leather and suede are natural products and therefore have specific characteristics. It feels cool, has a breath ability, a luxurious look, it changes by wearing and is flexible and adapts to your body.

To enjoy your purchase for a longer period of time it is very important to treat your product with care. We would like to give the following tips:

  • Before wearing the item, it should almost always be impregnated with a dedicated spray, which is usually available at the store (follow the instructions properly).
  • Washed leather is washed leather with a soft touch. Impregnation is necessary, but always spray from an arm's length, about 40 cm. Stains are common to the properties of the material.
  • Brushed Cow has the property to show wear spots during wear, the known 'old look'.
  • Restoration of this quality products is not possible.
  • Nappa leather (smooth leather) doesn't need as much maintenance as suede, because this is not as contagious. However, impregnate your nappa leather item with a spray to keep it in good shape.
  • Suede garments may loose abrasive particles over time. They can also be removed with a suede brush or adhesive tape. This way loose particles remain stuck to the tape.

Caution: Always be aware with brushing!

When stains form, please take the following actions:

  • Leather to leather rubbing. Use another clean piece of the item (must be leather) and rub it gently over the stain.
  • If your item is suede, use a suede brush and gently rub the stain.
  • Greasy edges and minor stains can be treated using suede gum.
  • If you have a greasy stain, use wax free chalk and grater it. Put the grated chalk dust on the stain and leave it there for about one or two days. After this period, take a clean piece of the item (must be leather) and rub the chalk of.
  • White leather is highly susceptible to stains, but it is cleanable. You can treat the item by putting baby shampoo on a white moist towel and rubbing the stain.
  • A suede jacket is not waterproof coat. If, for some reason, the jacket got moist from the rain, the first thing you need to do is letting the coat dry at room temperature. Never let a suede coat dry near a heater or in sunlight! When the jacket is dry, you can try removing stains by using a suede brush (or suede gum), rubbing the stain with a clean piece of the jacket, or by using leather polish or a transparent shoe polish. Leather polish is slightly greasier than shoe polish. When the item has been treated for water stains, make sure to impregnate the jacket again.
  • If the item is exposed to UV radiation or sunlight, discoloration might occur. Never leave your item exposed to either UV radiation or sunlight if you want to keep your item in a good condition.
  • If you are planning not to wear an item for a longer period of time, it's best to keep your item in a garment bag. Don't seal the garment bag, because leather is a natural product and therefore it must be able to breathe.
  • Always use a clothing hanger for your item, so the item shape is preserved.
  • Because suede is a natural product, there might be uneven nesses in the material. Although every Arma-item is put together with great care, little uneven nesses are characteristic for our products. You will find no two items that will be exactly alike.
  • Always let your item be treated by an approved dry cleaner. Suede products might get slightly lighter after a treatment. Arma Leather can not be held accountable for items that get damaged by a third party (hence dry cleaner).
